Herzberg’s Motivators and Hygiene Factors

When you’re seeking to motivate people, firstly get rid of the things that are annoying them about the company and the workplace. Make sure they’re treated fairly, and with respect.

Once you’ve done this, look for ways in which you can help people grow within their jobs, give them opportunities for achievement, and praise that achievement wherever you find it.

Opening Quote from Lean Enterprise

Forget 1984, the real world is way more frightening!

In July 2015, it was revealed that a single software bug in the Android operating system made nearly one billion devices subject to hacking merely by sending them an infected SMS message.

The security vulnerability, Stagefright, provides attackers access to all personal information on the phone, tracking of its user and remote control of the device’s microphone and video camera, as well as any photos or financial transactions processed by the device.

Great Advice…

Write down 10 or 20 things that in all honesty won’t make a big difference to yourselves or your business and don’t do them or do them extremely quickly and not brilliantly well. Because you are not an idiot, and have the best interests of the company in mind, explain to people calmly and politely why that is not a focus.
